Customer Rating: Summary: Nice book, wish i had the money to use it Comment: First off, I don't have a problem with this book in any way, shape or form....it comes with very detailed maps of each arrondissment (sp?), a detailed metro (subway) map, and an additional fold-up, take with you map. The reviews are detailed, including decor and service. It even has several indexes for Outdoor Dining, Moderate Prices, Large Wine Selection, and breakdown by Cuisine...But for a budgeted traveler from the US with the weak dollar, it was difficult to eat at many of the restaurants listed in this book... And again, this is not a fault of michelin, but of me...i just wanted to point out to the potential buyer that it is tough to find a dinner menu in this book for less the 30 euro's ($45 as of 10/07)... Customer Rating: Summary: The ultimate Paris restaurant guide book Comment: I initially did not purchase this book based on the previous review that indicated its content was limited. I bought Michelin France instead. That was a mistake! The Paris guide has all the same hotels & restaurants that the France guide has (not just expensive restaurants or those with stars, but ALL the Michelin rated restaurants). Plus, it has additional descriptions of each restaurant in English (thankfully!), photos, and maps. Michelin is the premier restaurant guide book in France and you can't go wrong with its advice. This is the one you want if you are just visiting Paris. Customer Rating: Summary: Disappointing Comment: Imagine my surprise when I opened the 2007 Paris Red Guide & saw pink pages with what looked like long paragraphs of restaurant & hotel reviews IN ENGLISH! And there was also a fold-out map in the back which covered more of the central city than my "Streetwise Paris" (though not with the same street comprehensiveness). But my delight turned to extreme disappointment when I realized this was NOT the exhaustive Paris Red Guide that my 2006 edition was. No restaurants without stars are included in the 2007, & no hotels less than 2 stars are listed. Since Michelin's ratings are already a selection of the total number of possible eating & hotel establishments, this 2007 guide is a slice of a slice & is not satisfactory for the tourist who relies on Michelin to make suggestions for places that are fine but not necessarily top notch (read "expensive"). For those who want to see all restaurants in a particular arrondissement, the arrangement within the guide is also annoying, as the main portion of the guide is arranged by number of stars, with the best places listed first. This requires one to refer back & forth from the listing by arrondissement (in the back) to the full treatment in the front. This is a waste of money, from my point of view!
