As the most personal space in the home, the bedroom is much more than a place to sleep; it often represents a sanctuary from the outside world. Well-known interior-design author Caroline Clifton-Mogg takes a fresh look at the room where we spend nearly a third of our lives and offers sound advice on furnishing and decorating every sort of sleeping space. She charts the whole process of creating a bedroom--from responding to a space to choosing finishing touches--and then offers a comprehensive resource for achieving a look that matches every personality, from traditional to exotic, austere to luxurious. THE BEDROOM BOOK will give readers the ideas and the impetus to create their own private haven. Featuring detailed evaluations of various types of beds, bedroom treatments, lighting, and storage; step-by-step illustrations and instructions for creating different fabric features; and a guide to suppliers, this informative guidebook will help readers rest easy--in style.

Customer Rating: Summary: More about beds than the entire room Comment: There is lots of inspiration to be found in this book in terms of various styles. Unfortunately beyond that I was dissapointed. Although many styles are present the focus of the book and photos is primarily on the bed itself as opposed to the bedroom suite as a whole entity. Yes there are some photos of those things but only to a minimal degree. It is mostly the bed and nighttable. Where are the sitting areas, the nooks and corners, a small reading chair and lamp? I was looking more for how to setup the entire master suite. However if you need style inspiration this is a good source.
Customer Rating: Summary: Bedrooms Comment: Nice book. Teriffic photos and lots of ideas that I am actually using. The book is pretty enough to leave layed out in the bedroom too.
Customer Rating: Summary: a plethora of bedrooms Comment: I never really thought about the history of the bed or how to choose a mattress, but the author covers it thoroughly as she shows photo after photo of an amazing variety of bedrooms. The rooms really are different; there are many inspired by other parts of the world. Plus there is a step-by-step how to section on making bed curtains, covers, and canopies.
