From the Agatha Award-Winning Author of Dying In Style Every job has its pluses and minuses. Josie Marcus gets to shoe-shop-but she also must deal with men like Mel Poulaine, who's too interested in handling women's feet. Soon Josie's been hired by Mel's boss to mystery-shop the store, but one step leads to another and Josie finds herself in St. Louis's seedy underbelly. Caught up in a web of crime, Josie hopes against hope that she won't end up murdered in Manolos.

Customer Rating: Summary: Funny murder mystery Comment: I love Elaine Viets - her Josie Marcus mystery shopper books are fun, easy reading and just plain good to read! I highly recommend any books by Elaine Viets.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pull Up Your Boots and Wade In Comment: Josie Marcus, professional shopper, gets in the middle of another murder. She goes into a high end shoe store and discovers the wonderful salesperson really, I mean really likes shoes.
The busybody neighbor wants Josie to help her daughter, a longtime rival of Josie's because police suspect her in the murder of "the creepy salesman."
Excellently written. This book moves along quickly through the darker side of life in St. Louis.
I highly reccommend this book. If you like Elaine Viets, you will love this book.
Customer Rating: Summary: An Afternoon With A Great Fun Read!! Comment: This writers books are my idea of a great afternoon or evening alone with a funny/wonderful paperback to read. It keeps you very interested from start to finish and makes you wish you had another to look forward to immediately instead of having to wait until the "great author" gets another written and published.
This is one of my favorite paperback authors who I sincerely hope will break out into Hardback and Audiobooks one day soon.
In the meantime...keep them coming!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: This book died a slow death Comment: Josie, a mystery shopper in St. Louis finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery when a client of hers ends up dead. The first third of the book explains quite a bit about Josie, her mother, her daughter, and her current romantic relationship. But, the mystery itself isn't very interesting. The dead guy is Mel, a shoe salesman with a shoe fetish, but... that's not very interesting. This book lacks ... spark, and it started to be very boring at about page 100. The plot was disjointed, characters were tossed in and out without focusing too much on who they were and why they were significant. and Josie really doesn't make for a good mystery-solver. The cover is cute (my mistake), but the plot and writing are poor. I'd recommend High Heels and Homicide for a really great mystery/romance read. Skip this one.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Comment: I love Elaine Viets' books, but I haven't been too thrilled with her mystery shopper series. This one was better than the previous one, but still not as good as her first series.
Josie's not very bright, and is somewhat immature for a single, self-sufficient mother. Hopefully, however, the series will get better as it goes along by allowing her to develop more.
